Our selection of the best Southwark private dining

Ah Southwark, the bane of American pronunciation since 1965.

Southwark may be packed with tourists, but you can’t deny that it is home to London’s most beloved attractions and some beautiful private dining rooms. Where else are you going to see the Shard, Tate Modern, or Borough Market?

Because Southwark is such an electric part of London, we compiled a list of private dining rooms that are bound to get the band back together.

1. Uncork Portugal right at home: Pedro's Wine Bar

Southwark, London

If you’re craving the best of Portuguese wine and looking to save your airline miles, head to Pedro’s Wine Bar. This Southwark private dining venue specialises in imported Portuguese wine and beer and is authentic enough to almost make you think you’re on the Algarve.

Located in a railway arch, this charming industrial space is a short walk from the Bermondsey or London Bridge stations. The private mezzanine room includes an all-glass frontage overlooking the street, a curved corrugated roof, and upcycled wooden flooring. It’s suitable for up to 95 of your closest friends, neighbours, ex-boyfriend, or whoever you desire.

2. A sophisticated Mediterranean spot: Arthur Hooper’s

Southwark, London

Arthur Hooper’s is a cosmopolitan Mediterranean restaurant nestled near Borough Market. The buzzing eatery serves artisan wines, speciality cocktails, and a wide selection of vegetarian options with premium ingredients sourced from local suppliers.

If you’re looking for a sleek Southwark private dining space for up to 20 people, book the Fruit & Veg private room. The decor is clean, slightly gothic in a vampish way, but entirely modern. The menu items are the sharing kind, so don’t hog the hummus.

3. With a name literally meaning ‘holy remedy’: Santo Remedio

Southwark, London

Santo Remedio is an homage to Mexican culture, bringing traditionally cooked Mexican cuisine to Londoners. With menu options of speciality tostadas, bone-in short rib with mole oaxaqueño, and guacamole with grasshoppers, we believe Santo Remedio is worth visiting for a good meal.

This Southwark private dining space has a contemporary cantina feel. The bright Agave room includes a wavy blue accent wall, hanging ceiling lamps, and wooden chairs with curved backs fitting up to 35 guests — but enough describing, we’ll let the pictures talk.

4. A slice of Europe…in London: Levan

Southwark, London

Get a taste of contemporary European dishes at Levan – a convivial restaurant inspired by the bistronomy movement which led to the emergence of casual fine dining.

Their wide selection of artisanal wine is full of gems, with the Jura wine being a particular stand out. Their Instagrammable menu includes a range of seasonal dishes, including an olive-oil sherbet dessert (which we think is definitely worth a try).

This Southwark private dining venue has a sophisticated ambience; Levan’s blue statement wall and decorated shelves contribute to its distinctly contemporary European feel. Levan’s dining room seats up to 30 guests across two tables.

5. A modern Bohemian feel: Bobo Social

Southwark, London

Just shy of Elephant & Castle station sits Bobo Social – a European restaurant with the main area available for hire. The space is filled with greenery, including an indoor crimson-leafed tree. The walls feature botanical prints, adding to their bohemian chic aesthetic.

Alongside their decor, Bobo Social is beloved for its brunch. Their drink menu includes cocktails and skin shots (a sort of dystopian-sounding health drink that features ingredients such as collagen and hyaluronic acid – yum). If you’re feeling it, make it a sin shot and add a spirit to it.

6. Little spot, big wine flavours: Little Cellars

Southwark, London

Little Cellars is an intimate neighbourhood bistro in the heart of Camberwell.

With wines influenced by France and Europe, Little Cellars specialises in quality wines to be enjoyed within an energetic atmosphere. The ambient lighting and upbeat music create the perfect backdrop for a good gossip session, especially paired with a communal charcuterie board.
