1. A West Village rooftop bar that will have you yearning for the Italian coast: Gansevoort Rooftop

West Village, NYC

Located atop the Gansevoort Meatpacking Hotel, this ornate Meditteranean-inspired rooftop bar is a warm-weather hotspot, especially considering it’s adjacent to the pool. And, despite the name of the hotel, this one is actually in the West Village (yes, we checked).

The brass-framed onyx cocktail bar, Moroccan tiled floors, and airy outdoor terrace will transport you to a Mediterranean Summer – not to mention the Italian fresco behind the bar, which features dreamy fruit trees and wisteria. Throughout the space, you’ll find olive trees and greenery of all kinds, juxtaposed with views of the Hudson River.

There are three main spaces to rent in the rooftop area. The indoor Loft can be transformed into theatre (100), classroom (50), and U shape (40) meeting configurations for corporate settings, or combined with the North Terrace (60 standing, 40 seated) for around 150 total standing guests. A full buyout accommodates 300 people.

The menu has coastal European dishes like lemon-crusted Branzino and poached pear & goat cheese salad, as well as, for some reason, an extensive sushi menu. Cocktails include a Sicilian Sangria and an elevated Aeperol Spritz.

2. Swing by this venue for a West Village rooftop bar: Puttery

West Village, NYC

Start the night with a little friendly competition, and then bask in your victory while admiring the Manhattan skyline. It can’t get any better than that. Puttery has two elegantly themed mini-golf courses and four bars, one up on the rooftop where you can dine as well. Plus, it’s 21+, so there won't be any kids running around threatening to beat each other up with golf clubs.

A full venue buyout can host up to 500 people, and a cocktail reception up on the Sky Terrace can host 125 standing guests. The individual courses can accommodate up to 100 players each, and there are several smaller spaces for some social R+R.

Event packages are available starting from $43 a person, which includes a $25 food and beverage credit. You can order from the sharable menu, which offers filet mignon sliders, veggie tostadas, and spicy hand rolls. If you’re ready for your backswing to get a bit wobbly, go wild at the bar – it’s hard to resist with a cocktail named Figgy Smalls.

3. Yes, a steakhouse in the Meatpacking District: STK Rooftop

West Village, NYC

The steaks are high at this venue. Literally – STK Rooftop is the outdoor terrace of the downtown location of STK Steakhouse, a sleek and chic combination of lounge and restaurant. With restroom attendants, swanky furnishings, and a DJ every night of the week, you’ll feel like an A-lister. The rooftop dining space and bar overlooks the High Line, and gives a more casual vibe on bright summer days, with glittering sophistication after sunset.

Sunny Day Dining is ideal for smaller group brunches and dinners, and can seat tables of up to 20, minimum 12. Alcove Lounge is the cocktail reception space, located above the main dining space, and can be divided for 30 guests or combined for 60. The main dining area can accommodate 350 for a large reception or 120 seated guests.

Of course, you can splurge and order a $70 NY strip, or you can explore their coveted happy hour menu, available M-F until 6:30. Indulge in wagyu beef sliders, popcorn chicken, and a short rib quesadilla, and pair it with award-winning cocktails like the Spiced Watermelon or the Cucumber Stiletto.

4. An (almost) West Village rooftop bar that helps you manifest blue skies: Azul on the Rooftop

West Village, NYC

Fine, it’s technically in SoHo. Like we said – the rooftop bar gods of New York are not forthcoming in the West Village. But if you can’t walk an extra five minutes, that’s on you. You’ll want to for this place, though. Azul on the Rooftop is a cantina-style bar against a New York backdrop, serving handcrafted cocktails and Cuban cuisine. Ideal for warm-weather gatherings, you can watch the Freedom Tower light up as the sun sets behind the Hudson.

Colorful decor and beachy wooden chairs line the deck, and string lights illumine the space in the evening. The rooftop can be bought out for 115 guests, and you can enjoy light bites like chips & guac, a Cuban sandwich with pork loin, and corn tortilla tacos. The cocktail menu features tequila as the star spirit, and you can find passionfruit mojitos and classic margs on their signature menu.
