London's 12 best bowling venues
Bowling is old, super old. In between consulting with outer-space construction firms, the Ancient Egyptians were known to lob stone balls at alabaster vases. The Romans killed time, outside of killing time, developing an outdoor bowling game, now known as the Italian pastime of Bocce. The oldest bowling green in England dates all the way back to 1299 (the same year York Minister was begun). Humans, it seems, were born to bowl.
What better way of paying homage to civilisation, then, than by rolling a ball down a highly lacquered floor? London's alleys have come a long way recently, with bowling nerds flocking to the city en masse.
