Hire the Masonic Temple at the Andaz Hotel if you’re looking for a quirky private dining room in London.
One of the most unique venues in London, this Space won’t fail to wow your Guests. The Masonic Temple at the Andaz Hotel is one of London’s most remarkable, unique and amazing private party venues.
For decades, staff at the Great Eastern Hotel regularly walked past an inconspicuous looking wall, unaware of what lay behind it. During construction, someone looking at the blueprints noticed there was an additional room that had long been kept a secret. Once the wall was demolished, the heavy studded doors that lay behind parted to reveal an opulent combination of Italian marble and checked floors.
Descending the temple’s spiral staircase provided a better view of the stunning blue dome ceiling with gold zodiac detail, regal thrones and organ. There couldn’t be a more magnificent space for an impressive private party.
Built in 1912 by Charles Barry Junior (the son of Charles Barry, the architect responsible for the Houses of Parliament’s design), the Grade II listed Greek Masonic Temple was where Freemasons attended their Lodge gatherings. The Temple was first chaired by the Queen’s cousin, Grand Master Duke of Connaught. Above the thrones is the Latin inscription, “Avdi veda tace” (Hear, see, keep counsel).
This magnificent room is now enjoying a brand new chapter as the venue for a variety of events. Please note the venue can cater for longer hours. Please message the host with the times you require and a bespoke price can be discussed.
