The best wine bars in Shoreditch

We love a great wine bar. There’s something about spending a few hours in comfort, pretending you know the difference between a Merlot and a Pinot Noir, making ambiguous statements about body and depth and notes. Shoreditch may be better known for its clubs and increasingly absurd activity bars, but there are also a handful of venues where you get a seriously good glass of wine. We took it upon ourselves to try out the best of them – so here’re the best wine bars in Shoreditch. Cheers.

1. A Shoreditch wine bar with dedicated tasting vaults: TT Liquor

Shoreditch, London

Though their name hints towards a more spirit-focused menu, TT Liquor do not disappoint when it comes to wine. White, Red, Rose and Champagne are well represented, with Italian wine in particular featuring heavily.

TT Liquor has various private hire options available including a roof terrace (110 guests) and a cinema room (52 guests). For wine tasting, though, you’ll want to make full use of their subterranean tasting vault. Once acting as a jail cell to nineteenth century criminals, the atmospheric space hits the right balance of spooky and interesting, and would make great setting to any wine tasting event in Shoreditch.

2. A Shoreditch wine bar with a secret garden: Shoreditch Wine House

Shoreditch, London

This fittingly named wine bar in Shoreditch has an impressive array of vino, with over 300 wines making up their hand-selected collection. The Head Sommelier and partner Ben Van de Meutter is blessed with not only an excellent name but also a tried and tested palette for choosing the best. You can enjoy a decent selection of charcuterie and cheese platters alongside a glass or bottle.

The space itself is about halfway down Shoreditch High Street, a very short walk from the Overground Station. Expect a cosy, comfortable atmosphere with a very Shoreditch approach to interiors. The real MVP, though, is the secret garden out the back which gives you an oasis of quietude away from the buzz of Shoreditch.

3. A cutting edge wine bar in Shoreditch: Vagabonds

Shoreditch, London

Vagabonds has found widespread success in London with its unique take on the classic wine bar, and the Shoreditch iteration contributes to this winning combination. Situated in a modernist glass and steel complex just on the border between Shoreditch and The City itself, Vagabonds differentiates itself with its glass-fronted machines which automatically dispense measures of over 100 wines.

The whole space can also be hired exclusively, with capacity for 140 guests, and the terrace makes it a great option for enjoying a glass or two in the sun.

4. A Shoreditch wine bar run by a Michelin Starred Restaurant: Galvin Bistro & Bar

Shoreditch, London

Located within the neighbouring Spitalfields market, Galvin Bistro & Bar is within five minutes of Liverpool Street Station and adjoins the celebrated Michelin-starred Galvin La Chapelle restaurant. Whilst the bistro serves up delicious food, we’re all about the extensive wine list. A decidedly French selection of Reds and Whites gives a great insight into the bar’s excellent pairings, whilst their fortified wine selection is also of note.

The bar, conservatory and garden can all be hired privately, with receptions and networking events being catered to. This is a Shoreditch wine bar for those out to impress.

How to hire a wine bar in Shoreditch

What's better than a great Shoreditch wine bar? Ask us, and it's a great Shoreditch wine bar that you have all to yourself. Finding a venue the old-fashioned way (trawling the internet, contacting 10 venues only to find that they're out of your price range and not even available on your dates) is a pain, and there are a few pitfalls between you and booking your perfect Shoreditch wine bar. Getting the venue-finding process down to professional art is what we’ve made our mission ever since we took on the events industry. Do the easy thing and leave it to us – that way you can get back to doing what you do best: drinking an irresponsible amount of wine.

Step 1: Determine your budget Before you start looking for a wine bar, it's essential to determine your budget. This will help you narrow down your options and prevent you from overspending. Some wine bars in Shoreditch are more expensive than others, so make sure you know how much you're willing to spend.

Step 2: Consider the size of your group The size of your group will also play a significant role in choosing the right wine bar. Some wine bars are better suited for small groups, while others can accommodate larger parties. Make sure you know how many people will be attending your event before you start looking for a wine bar.

Step 3: Look for a wine bar with a good selection of wines One of the main reasons for visiting a wine bar is to enjoy a variety of wines. Look for a wine bar in Shoreditch that has a good selection of wines from different regions and countries. This will give you and your guests the opportunity to try different wines and discover new favourites.

Step 4: Consider the ambience The ambience of a wine bar is also essential. Look for a wine bar in Shoreditch that has a cosy and inviting atmosphere, with comfortable seating and good lighting. The right ambience will create a relaxed and enjoyable experience for you and your guests.

Step 5: Check the availability of private rooms If you're hosting a private event, you may want to consider a wine bar with a private room. Private rooms offer more privacy and can be a great option for birthday parties, corporate events, or other special occasions.

Step 6: Read reviews Before you make a final decision, make sure to read reviews from previous customers. This will give you an idea of the quality of service and the experience you can expect.

There really is no one answer to this question: so many variables come into play when understanding the cost of exclusive hire of a wine bar. How many guests are you planning for? Is the venue for the day, an afternoon, or the night? Instead of letting the venue dictate the price, our advice is to be proactive and set a budget that you feel comfortable with – this way the right venues can reach out to you through HeadBox.
