A BrewDog bar that has mercifully chosen to eschew the normal glass-and-steel look of many of its outposts, Queen Charlotte celebrates in a wooden, cosy style. The outer facade is a stark green, attracting Charlotte Street's drunken hordes into the welcoming arms of an 18th-century boozer that has been dragged kicking and screaming into the present.

And what does the present look like? Well, it means happy hours and lots of them. From 4 pm - 8 pm every day you can get irresponsibly drunk off of 2-4-1 cocktails (we recommend the Margaritas and Porn Star Martinis, this is not a time to hold back).

The Queen Charlotte can also be hired out, offering space for 150 punters, a great place for that pre-party tipple.

An underground bar that kick-started the Bourne and Hollingsworth group, this Charlotte Street venue is essentially a living room that got really, really into cocktails. Walk up the tight staircase, plonk yourself down on one of the plush red chesterfield sofas and be ready to be bewildered by the strange and wonderful ingredients on the menu. Black barrel whiskey. Islay malt. Mexcal with bitter bianco. Jalapeño syrup. We don't even know what some of those are, but they taste great.

With a DJ starting at 8 pm, an abundance of art deco vibes and enough personality to fill a quarry, Bourne and Hollingsworth have done something right.

If you are a sushi fan (and let's face it, who isn't?) you might want to try the Shochu Lounge on Charlotte Street. Situated inside the ROKA Restaurant , famous for its Japanese Cuisine and tasty cocktails. The restaurant itself serves up Robatoykai, which is a Japanese barbeque, focusing on seafood and vegetables. Honestly we didn't even know that was a thing.

Sochu Lounge is named after Sochu which, just like Sake is a traditional, Japanese liquor. That is, easy to drink. The key ingredient is stirred, shaken and generally mistreated into all manner of modern cocktails.

Sitting on an undeniably comfortable sofa under a huge pink Japanese tree that comes out of the ceiling you will delight and disorientate in equal measure. The draw here is pairing quality Japanese food with well-made cocktails, all in an aesthetically pleasing setting. Not a bad combo.
