Brixton restaurants that span the globe
Brixton is a blessed location, absolutely brimming with places for you to delight in a bite to eat, whether you're looking for something to grab and go, a laissez-faire afternoon of grazing or the chance to try something new, you’ll find it in SW9.
Using the deepest corners of my Notes app to review each restaurant, ready to whip out when someone asks for a recommendation, these are 10 of the best Brixton restaurants I’ve tried and tasted.
Naughty Piglets
If you’re ever thinking of an excuse to return to your favourite bistro, a rotating chef schedule that changes every five weeks has a certain pull. And that’s what you can expect from Naughty Piglets.
The current resident is Chino Gonzales, an Argentinian chef who has worked with the best back in South America and is now bringing those flavours to Brixton Water Lane.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary in Feb 2025, Naughty Piglets continues to offer tasty, ever-changing menus and a specialist-chosen, curated wine list.

The Joint
Time to get your hands dirty. Located in Brixton Village, the Joint sits on one corner of this food and drink maze, where every turn presents you with a new delight – similar to its menu.
The Joint serves brunch and BBQ. Come for the fluffy, stacked pancakes and stay for the “award-winning wings” (the actual name on the menu). It’s a fuss-free location that just wants you to get sauce everywhere.

La Nonna
Sadly, I don’t have a nonna but visiting this Brixton location, I feel like I do. La Nonna is an independent Italian restaurant bringing fresh pasta plates to customers craving the slurp of spaghetti.
Its 00 Flour is from Italy and is used to make the dough each day, dishes are always finished with a sprinkling of Pecorino or Parmigiano Reggiano cheese – just say when – and the pasta is always cooked al dente. As it should be.

Three Uncles
Born in Liverpool Street in 2019, Three Uncles now has multiple spots across London serving one of the most popular types of everyday food in Hong Kong – siu mei or meats roasted on spits over an open fire or a large wood-burning rotisserie oven.
At Three Uncles Brixton, you’ll find a laid-back atmosphere that is walk-ins only – but I promise it’s worth waiting for, a queue just means all the more time to look at the menu and decide what you're eating.
Bespoke Brixton dishes include the Three Treasures Platter for two (duck, char siu, crispy pork) and salt and pepper broccoli. You’ll also find lo mein noodles, roast meats and dim sum options that’ll have your mouth watering.

Trinity Arms
There's nothing quite like good pub grub. I'm talking bangers and mash, fish and chips, burgers that topple over and – the holy grail of a local – a roast dinner.
With a fire pit in the garden, Brixton’s Trinity Arms is a winter’s night dream. Sunday sees roasts served from 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with options of meats or a veggie Wellington and sides that include a double egg Yorkshire pudding and Trinity Arms’ house gravy.

Mamma Dough
Sling us a slice. Mamma Dough pizzas are handcrafted to order using 48-hour fermented sourdough, the “mamma” dough, as it were. Staying true to the traditional Napolitana style of pizza making, toppings are where it gets experimental.
The vegan Spring Greengrocer has tomato, vegan mozz, courgette, asparagus, red peppers, garlic and olives sprinkled on top, the double pep and hot honey does what it says on the tin, and the Florence pays homage to toppings loved by the Italian city with spinach, parmesan and an egg.

Etta’s Seafood Kitchen
A resident of Brixton for 40 years, Etta’s Seafood Kitchen began when Etta started cooking for friends, family and celebrations and has just grown since.
If you fancy feeling like you're going home for the night, go to Etta’s. The sustainably sourced seafood is cooked to order and once it’s gone for the day, that’s it.
Try the fresh scallop salad, king oysters, seafood curry or a special of lobster with a side of Etta’s mac and cheese.

Other Side Fried
I’m going to call it – this is the best fried chicken burger in south London and it’s all thanks to getting the basics right. Good bun, good fry, good sauces. Other Side Fried is taking home the heavy-weight title I'm giving out.
Make it spicy with buffalo or sweet with honey butter, but whichever way you do dirty, make sure you do it with Other Side Fried and its dirty, loaded fries.

Fish, Wings and Tings
Celebrating Caribbean flavours and foods, Fish, Wings and Tings has been located at the heart of Brixton since 2012. It’s not just a place for mouth-tingling tings, but it’s also become a community hub for SW9.
For drinks, there are softs like homemade spiced sorrel and ginger beer and hard drinks including My Uncle’s Drink and Tina’s Rum Punch.
When it comes to food, try small plates like fried plantains or codfish fritters, and for mains, try the mutton roti, creole fish stew and jerk chicken. A place so good you’ll have to keep coming back to try everything.

Vining Street Wine Club
OK, so this spot isn’t actually tried and tasted… yet, because it’s new. But if, like me, you're always on the lookout for what’s opening near where you live, then this is as new as it gets.
The team behind Crystal Palace Wine Club brings you Vining Street Wine Club – because wine and cheese counts as a dinner, right?
The slogan? “Wine without the bullsh*t.” With over 100 wines sourced from all over the world, including a selection of natural wines, it is going to be offering 10-15 wines by the glass each night, with bottles available to take away. And the menu boasts artisan cheeses, charcuterie boards and cheese toasties. I'm sold.
