Golden Age Cinema & Bar

Golden Age Cinema & Bar is a heritage listed boutique theatrette, nestled in Surry Hills in what was once Sydney's Hollywood Quarter. Originally constructed in 1940 and utilised as the home of Paramount Pictures in Sydney until the 1970s, the theatrette’s patronage changed dramatically over the decades from local exhibitors and film executives to sharp-tongued critics, and welcomed in servicemen and women to view newsreels during World War II.

Since 2013, our David Lynch-inspired venue has been home to an award-winning independent cinema program, live music, film trivia, a seasonal food menu and carefully crafted cocktails. Hire our Cinema & Bar today to experience the elegance and allure of the Golden Age.

THE BAR

Immerse yourself in the dim warm lights, plush velvet curtains, leather seats and mahogany walls of our Old Hollywood bar. Equipped with stage and sound gear, a hidden mirrored stage, skilled bartenders, and curated food and beverage packages, the Golden Age Bar is the perfect backdrop for your brand activations, team celebrations, birthdays and weddings. THE CINEMA

Showcase your content in style at Golden Age’s lovingly restored cinema. Intimate, beautiful and fully equipped, our cinema features 1940s-era cinema chairs with plush velvet upholstery sourced from Zurich, a 140 inch cinema screen, a 2k digital cinema projector, PA system and 5.1 surround sound speakers. Ideal for up to 56 guests, our time-honoured cinema offers an intimate and captivating ambience for your next presentation, film screening, album listening party or wedding ceremony.
