Tavern 42 Degrees South (T42) has been on the waterfront since 1997 and is a newly renovated iconic venue in arguably Hobart’s best location. This venue boasts a double waterfront in a heritage building and can cater for end of year functions, parties and private dining in their Dining Spaces or Function Lounge.
Their Head Chef, Angga Ovidi hails from Sokyo at The Star in Sydney where he spent years paying homage to the traditions of Japanese cooking and techniques, whilst utilising the best Australian ingredients. Their general manager Alex Watson has been in the industry for over a decade opening restaurants in London, Melbourne and in Hobart. Having worked for industry icons like Nobu, Langham Hotel Group and Gordon Ramsay, Alex's attention to detail and understanding of venues help their team deliver a memorable experience to all of their guests.
The restaurant features double-sided water views and modern seating incorporating some banquet-style within a refurbished space. The semi-private Dining Spaces are available for groups of 2 to 110 for sit down meals. They offer à-la-carte, set menus and Chef's choice (6 courses). The menu lends itself to share plate style dining utilising the best in local produce and seafood.
